Meet our Instructors

Daniel Dekonty, Piano and Voice Teacher Daniel   K.   DeKonty,   Jr.   is   currently   President   of   the   Baldwin   County   Music Teacher’s    Association,    the    local    association    for    the    MTNA.    He    earned    a Bachelor   of Arts   in   Music   with   an   emphasis   in   piano   and   voice   from   Kennesaw State   University.   Daniel   also   studied   undergraduate   music   at   Shorter   College and   Lee   University   as   well   as   post-graduate   work   in   music   education   at   West Georgia University. Daniel   has   been   involved   in   music   education   and   performance   over   the   last twenty   years.   Daniel   has   worked   as   director   of   music   and   fine   arts   at   West Union   Baptist   Church,   Gray’s   Chapel A.M.E.   church,   Church   on   the   Word,   and First Assembly   of   God.   He   believes   that   a   good   musician   should   be   capable   of performing    multiple    genres    of    music    and    teaches    his    students    based    on bringing out their strengths in the styles they enjoy and can most excel in. Daniel   has   been   in   many   choral   and   performance   groups   through   his   music   career.   He   has   performed   in   France,   Germany, Austria,   Switzerland   and   Russia.   A   background   vocalist   for   live   performances   by   Alvin   Slaughter,   Ron   Kenoly,   Lily   Knowles, and   Karen   Wheaton;   He   has   also   been   involved   in   recordings   for   Integrity   Music,   Brentwood   Records,   Benson   and   Pathway Press.

Hannah Roberts, Piano Teacher After   almost   giving   up   music   altogether   as   a   teenager,   Hannah   discovered   a   love   for   making music   during   her   undergraduate   studies   and   is   now   enthusiastically   sharing   that   as   a   pianist, harpist, and music teacher. Active   as   both   a   solo   and   collaborative   pianist,   she   has   received   numerous   awards   for   her performances   at   competitions,   including   the   Alabama   MTNA   and   AMTA   State   competitions. She   presently   serves   as   pianist   for   Bella   Voce,   the   leading   women’s   chorus   in   the   Mobile area. She also provides piano and harp music for weddings and other events. An   engaging   teacher,   she   provides   her   students   with   a   comprehensive   music   education, seeking to cultivate excellence and a love for music in her students. Hannah   holds   a   Master   of   Music   degree   in   Piano   Performance   from   the   University   of   South Alabama   and   a   Bachelor   of   Arts   in   Music   degree   with   honors   from   Thomas   Edison   State University. Hannah   is   a   member   of   MTNA,   Alabama   Music   Teachers   Association,   and   is   presently   First   Vice   President   of   Baldwin County Music Teachers Association.

Kedra Kinney, Violin and Viola Teacher Kedra   has   played   violin   since   starting   at   the   age   of   nine   in   a   fourth   grade string   class.   She   knows   the   value   of   both   the   school   orchestra   setting and   private   lessons.   She   credits   her   early   violin   teachers   with   passing   on a   passion   for   music   by   learning   a   repertoire   of   violin   classics   and   moving ahead   with   challenging   and   enjoyable   music.   Kedra   desires   to   pass   on that    passion    for    music    to    her    students.    Kedra    values    the    benefit    of playing   an   instrument   with   skill   and   the   ability   to   pick   it   up   and   play anytime,   anywhere,   and   for   any   occasion.   She   endeavors   to   pass   onto students a joy in performing and sharing their music with others. Kedra   has   over   ten   years   of   teaching   experience.   In   addition   to   teaching private    violin    lessons,    she    has    taught    general    music    and    orchestra classes at schools in Idaho, Washington, and Minnesota. Kedra   played   violin   with   the   Everett   Symphony   and   currently   plays   at   her   church,   Zion   Lutheran   in   Silverhill.   From   2001   to 2011   she   worked   as   an   ethnomusicologist   specialist   with   Lutheran   Bible Translators   -   facilitating   and   conducting   songwriting and audio drama workshops in Botswana, Namibia, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria, and Cameroon. Kedra   holds   a   Master   of   Arts   in   Ethnomusicology   from   Bethel   University,   St.   Paul,   Minnesota   and   a   Bachelor   of   Music, music education major, from the University of Wyoming.

Private Piano and Voice Lessons are $100 a month with a 30 minute lesson once a week.
Michelle L. Gray, Piano Teacher Michelle   L.   Gray   began   piano   at   age   8,   joining   band   and   choir   at   the same   time.   During   high   school,   she   decided   to   take   time   off   from   lessons but    continued    to    accompany    the    Junior    and    Senior    High    choirs.    She attended   Concordia   University   in   Ann   Arbor,   MI,   earning   her   Bachelor   of Arts   degree   in   church   music   and   piano   pedagogy.   While   there,   she   once again   felt   drawn   to   the   piano,   taking   lessons   again   as   well   as   learning   to play organ. Michelle also expanded her music skills into voice and flute. After    graduation,    she    has    had    the    privilege    of    serving    at    several congregations including: Redeemer Lutheran Church, Gresham, OR Fairlawn Independent Living Gresham, OR Calvary Lutheran Church, Lincoln Park, MI Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Dearborn, MI Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church, Ann Arbor, MI Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Livonia, MI St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Richville, MI Michelle   wants   to   share   her   love   of   music   with   her   students   and   enjoys   watching   them   as   they   progress   and   express themselves. She has relocated from Michigan to join the Academy and work as a piano technician.

Hannah Koruschak, Piano Teacher Hannah   Koruschak   began   studying   piano   at   age   six.   Due   to   family   circumstances   she studied   under   multiple   teachers.   While   she   flourished   in   spite   of   change,   It   exposed   to   her the   value   of   consistent   training   and   teachers   who   challenge   their   students   in   every   aspect   of music. Hannah   earned   a   Bachelor   of   Arts   degree   in   Piano   Performance   from   Pensacola   Christian College   in   2015   and   is   currently   working   on   her   Master   of   Music   in   Piano   Performance. As   a piano   teacher,   her   desire   is   sharing   her   passion   and   love   of   music   while   giving   well-rounded musical   training   to   each   and   every   one   of   her   students.   She   has   enjoyed   teaching   students of   various   ages   and   skill   and   loves   to   see   the   excitement   of   students   when   they   grasp   a   new musical concept or technique.
